The oft-overlooked coda to the Le Mans era, God Punished Me (aka GPM) is Jamisin Matthews’ final burst of original music. By 2007, the artist who is sometimes cited as the early 2000s precursor to the nostalgic retrowave aesthetic, decided to tear down and recombinate another generation’s alternative lineage.
With programming upstart Joe Duncan onboard, GPM imagined a mid-1990s big beat n’ bass dressed-in-pleather darkrave. Still lyrically rich; but bold and full in stance.
Last Five Anthology 2007-2009 rounds up the three original GPM tracks and pairs them with the 2009 GPM reunion single, Feerbuzz. The vocoded Feerbuzz Robo dub kneeslides the five song collection through the final lap.
